How to Install UrbanAna: Step-by-Step Guide

System requirements

UrbanAna requires SketchUp 2021 or newer, and is compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems.

Install extension/ plugin in SketchUp

Installing UrbanAna using SketchUp Extension Manager

To install UrbanAna on your computer, use our universal RBZ installer. Follow these steps from Sketchup guide to add an extension in SketchUp:

1. In SketchUp, select Extensions > Extension Manager. The Extension Manager window appears.
2. Click the Install Extension button.
3. In the Open dialog box that appears, navigate to the .rbz file saved to your computer, select the file, and click OK (Microsoft Windows) or Open (macOS) and install your extension.

UrbanAna’s Location

1. Extension/ Plugin folder

After installation, you’ll find UrbanAna in your SketchUp Plugins folder. The location varies based on your operating system, and SketchUp XXXX is your Sketchup version (e.g SketchUp 2024):

• On Windows: C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp ####\SketchUp\Plugins\UrbanA(Tip: You can quickly access the Roaming folder by entering %AppData% in the Explorer address bar)
• On macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/SketchUp ####/SketchUp/Plugins/UrbanA

2. Settings Location

Your settings & licensing are saved in the following locations:

• On Windows: C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\UrbanA
• On macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/UrbanA

We store your settings in JSON format and automatically update them when you upgrade UrbanAna. If you manually edit these files and encounter issues, you can easily reset to default settings through UrbanAna → Settings → Restore default settings.

Having trouble with installation?

If you need to reinstall UrbanAna, just remove UrbanAna’s Location by following these steps:

1. Remove the existing UrbanAna installation from your Plugins folder:
   • Windows: C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp ####\SketchUp\Plugins\
   • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/SketchUp ####/SketchUp/Plugins/
2. Clear any remaining settings & license:
   • Windows: C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\
   • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/UrbanAna/
3. Download and install the latest version and activate your license while connected to the internet

Installation on multi-user computer

For multi-user installations, you can share a single license across all users on the same computer. To streamline the installation process, use SketchUp’s shipped extensions system, which automatically sets up extensions for each user.

Automatic Extension Installation

Navigate to the following location based on your operating system:

• Windows: C:\Program Files\SketchUp\SketchUp ####\ShippedExtensions\
• macOS: /Applications/SketchUp ####/SketchUp.app/Contents/PlugIns/

Then extract UrbanA_xxx.rbz to this location. You should see both UrbanA.rb and the folder in the ShippedExtensions directory. This ensures UrbanAna is automatically installed for each user when they launch SketchUp.

Multi-User License

By default, UrbanAna will check its license in C:\Users\CURRENT_USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\UrbanA\, meaning that each user will need a separate license. For shared licensing on a same machine, copy the entire UrbanA folder from one user’s AppData location to the same location for other users. This way, all users will share the same license configuration.
